A Russian man named Andrei Zhestekov is about to stand on a trial with a charge up to five years in jail. He was caught trying to smuggle in an orangutan, two gecko, and four chameleons. These animals, orangutan found drugged, were found inside a small rattan basket in one of his suitcases. On the first discovery, the officers though the suitcase contained monkeys who could be very aggressive and set loose in the airport only to find a baby orangutan.

Zhestekov stated that the orangutan was taken from Java to Bali, but the source of his first grasp of the orangutan remains unclear. Currently, the orangutan is one of the endangered animals in the world. Indonesia only has 70,000 orangutans currently living in the wild. The population has diminished from environmental destruction and habitat loss. Zhestekov will be charged accordingly not only for smuggling endangered species but also for his inhumane way of transporting the animals.
